Various urine analyses are performed for animals visiting our hospital for general check-ups, specific conditions, or symptoms, upon the recommendation of our expert faculty members/veterinarians. A complete urinalysis or urine analysis consists of various chemical and microscopic examinations to detect normal or abnormal metabolites, bacteria, or cellular elements in the urine. A complete urinalysis is performed for the diagnosis and monitoring of kidney and urinary system diseases in animals, as well as for diagnosing and monitoring many systemic diseases, and post-treatment follow-ups. It is also important for diagnosing and monitoring blood, endocrine, metabolic diseases, and especially diabetes.
In our hospital, the urine analyses of all animals include routine measurements of parameters such as urine pH, color, specific gravity, presence of inflammatory cells, protein presence, ketone bodies, glucose, bilirubin, urobilinogen, ketones, and nitrites. These measurements help in examining deviations from the physiological values of urine, and the necessary evaluations are made by our expert faculty members. Additionally, the microscopic examination of urine can detect conditions such as urinary stones and urinary tract infections.
