AKÜ Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karakaş, who made a statement regarding the “Accessibility in Space” award, stated that as a university, they continue their work with an environmentalist and barrier-free Dönücü, student-centered and quality-oriented education and research approach. Karakaş said, “We are trying to maintain a barrier-free Dönücü life for the disabled and our staff with this talent. In line with this, access vehicles have been eliminated in all our units, especially in the space. We have built disabled elevators, disabled ramps, disabled toilets, disabled tracking surfaces, direction signs with Braille alphabet, disabled parking lots in all our units and we currently have no problems with access in the space. Nevertheless, we are also making serious efforts for the level of access in education. I would like to thank all our staff who have contributed to achieving this success.”
