Afyon Kocatepe University (AKU) Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karakaş announced that the tender for the new building of the AKU Veterinary Health Application and Research Center (Animal Hospital) will be held on July 6, 2020.
Karakaş stated that one of the priority areas of AKU as an administration is animal husbandry and animal health, and said, “We have one of the important animal hospitals of the region within our Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. In our hospital, which currently has a total indoor area of 2,051 square meters, all kinds of diagnosis and treatment of animals such as cats, dogs, birds, ornamental animals, horses and farm animals are carried out with modern methods. With our new building, which will have an area of 6,500 square meters, these services will serve citizens and academia in a much more modern environment with a service approach beyond the age.”
Karakaş noted that the modern animal hospital building organized within the scope of the 2020 investment budget has grown into one of the most important animal health centers in the region. He expressed his belief that with this perspective, AKÜ will make a bright and positive contribution to Afyonkarahisar, one of Turkey’s leading provinces in terms of animal husbandry. Karakaş also stated that the new building will provide calf health services and that a new unit has increased. Karakaş noted that with the opening of the new animal hospital, the old building of 2,051 square meters will be completely transformed into a building providing emergency services and a special unit will be created in this area for the examination and treatment of stray animals.
